PECAN GROVE WGA

GOLF, FRIENDSHIP, COMPETITION - every day at Pecan Grove

Play Days. Wednesdays and Saturdays are play days for both 9 and 18 hole divisions, with morning tee times. After play, everyone is invited to have lunch and enjoy the social time.

Play days begin in January and end with our annual Turkey Shoot in November. Our December Awards Banquet recognizes individual player achievements for the year.

Tournaments. We offer four major tournaments a year, including the Handicap Tournament, Member/Member, President's Cup, and the combined WGA Championship and Senior Women's Championship. The WGA also participates in a Guys and Dolls Tournament with the Senior Men's Golf Association.

Southwest Interclub. The 18 hole competitors play on the 3rd Thursday of the month, March through October. Ladies with a Course Handicap of 32 or less are eligible. The cost is $6 for prize money and $45 for lunch, course and cart fees. Participating clubs in addition to Pecan Grove include Sweetwater, Riverbend, Sugar Creek, Quail Valley, and Hearthstone.

The format is Four-Ball Stroke Play. Each club uses its three Lowest Net scores, combined with the Lowest Gross score to determine placement for the day. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins possession of the trophy for a year.

TeeTimers Interclub. TeeTimers is a nine hole interclub event for ladies with a 9 Hole Handicap Index of 14.0 or greater. Players compete on the 1st Thursday of the month in March, April, May, June, September, October and November. The $45 cost includes course and cart fees, gross and net prizes, breakfast and lunch. Participating clubs are Sweetwater, Falcon Point, Royal Oaks, Willow Fork, Hearthstone, and Pecan Grove.

The format is Stableford. Each club uses the top three scores of eight players to determine points for the day. At the November event, the team with the most points accumulated receives a traveling trophy. The player from each team with the most points accumulated also receives a trophy.

Play Fore the Pink. The WGA has held annual Play Fore the Pink events since 2008. Volunteers, players and sponsors have raised in excess of $200,000 in support of various breast cancer awareness foundations.
